Making Journey a Little Easier SANDS Awareness

SANDS Awareness month - making the journey a little easier.

The month of June 2017 is devoted to the SANDS (stillbirth and neonatal death society) awareness month. It is a month of campaigning aimed at raising awareness of the tragedy of a baby’s death at birth or shortly after. For grieving parents it is a time for reflection and to give back to a charity that may have helped them. For family it may be a time of remembrance too.

This year, the charity has been focusing on highlighting the fact that 15 babies die every day either before, during or shortly after their birth. The charity is aware that 450 babies will die during this month alone, making their research and charity work hugely important and supportive to the families that deal with these tragic events. As part of the initiative, SANDS are asking supporters to change their social media profile pic or cover image to “15 babies a day”. The picture can be downloaded from their website.

Baby born sleepingTaking part in events such as these can be an important way for families to remember their lost children and grandchildren. We like to think that somehow we can be a part of that preservation of memories and our personalised Baby Loss photo frames can be a a step on that recovery process.Additionally you can find out about their fundraising ideas that you can take part in during the month (or at any time). The charity has a target of £15,000 and you can help by setting up a Just Giving page or just making a donation.

With loving messages and space for your child’s precious name and date of birth, these photo frames can offer a small feeling of solace during a sad time. As the years go by, the photos can become more of a tribute or memorial to a beautiful child who is still very much part of the family. These photo frames can be used for scan photos too for those babies that were lost during pregnancy.

Angel Wings Personalised Memory Photo Frame
There is never a perfect way to say goodbye to a child lost too soon. But with the help of a charity such as SANDS and other groups that offer support, parents and family members can feel some sense of being a part of a group that understands. We hope that our frames might just make the memory keeping part of the process a little easier.
